Open Lightship Baskets and Nests

This is a gallery of open baskets of many descriptions. Nests were one of the very early refined designs, beside being aesthetically pleasing the fact that they stack neatly inside each other it meant they made efficient use of precious space in the colonial home. Today they have lost their utilitarian nature but the beauty and symmetry of a well constructed nest still have a strong appeal today.  Click on the thumbnails to download an enlarged view and description of each photo.
